HELIX Laser Resurfacing in Santa Monica, CA

Everyone’s skin is different, so no two skin resurfacing treatments should look alike. The HELIX laser from DEKA is an innovative, non-surgical skin care procedure designed to improve a variety of skin concerns. The HELIX laser combines non-ablative fractional and ablative technologies to combat multiple skin issues, including acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and textural irregularities.

Your HELIX laser specialist can customize your treatment for your needs, utilizing three different modalities in a single session:

  • CoolPeel™ is an advanced fractional CO2 ablative therapy that gently removes the epidermis, resurfaces skin irregularities, and heats the dermis to stimulate collagen production.
  • Sultra is a non-ablative light treatment for surface-level refinement and collagen production.
  • FUSION harnesses the power of CoolPeel™ and Sultra for precise tightening, resurfacing, and refining.

What Can HELIX Laser Treatments Do?

Model

Refine Your Skin

Each HELIX modality works to remove skin irregularities and damaged tissue so that new, healthy skin can grow. CoolPeel™ targets hyperpigmentation and scarring to gently resurface the skin, with minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Sultra works to increase collagen production by gently breaking down tissue, revealing more plump, youthful skin.

Stimulate Collagen

The best way to increase skin health is by prompting your skin’s natural healing process and collagen production. All three modalities induce collagen production, improving elasticity and natural hydration. The fractional lasers work to refine the skin with as little damage as possible, allowing for a quicker recovery period and skin cycling — unlike other fractional lasers.

Customize Your Care

FUSION allows your specialist greater control, minimizing discomfort and maximizing efficiency. By combining ablative (advanced resurfacing) and non-ablative (collagen stimulation) techniques, you can personalize treatment for each area of your skin, targeting more severe problem areas and gently refining others with a press of a button.

The HELIX Laser Resurfacing Process

Consultation

A consultation with your HELIX specialist is critical to utilizing its unique, customizable features. Your specialist will listen to your concerns, examine the targeted area(s), and create a personalized plan.

For example, if you have fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, with acne scarring on the chin, your specialist will create a plan that incorporates the ideal combination of HELIX modalities to target these unique issues.

Retinoid application and peeling solutions must be avoided for one to two weeks before laser treatment.

Preparation

Some patients experience mild discomfort from traditional fractional ablative therapies as the laser works to eliminate surface-level concerns. However, HELIX’s multi-modal design, chilled applicator, and unique “spray” application minimize application overlap, reducing pain.

While HELIX is associated with minimal pain, your specialist may apply a topical numbing agent for optimum comfort.

Treatments near the mouth or patients with a history of cold sores or herpetic infections necessitate preparation with oral antiviral medication.

HELIX Procedure

Each HELIX session will vary depending on the areas treated and the type of treatment needed. Your procedure can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes, with added time for the numbing agent to take effect.

During your session, your specialist will pass the HELIX handpiece over your face, alternating between modalities determined by your treatment plan. You may feel a slight snapping sensation on the skin from the ablative technology, which should be tolerable, and a gentle warming sensation.

Frequently Asked Questions About the HELIX Laser

Am I a candidate for HELIX laser resurfacing?

If you are experiencing fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, sun damage, acne scarring, or uneven skin tone and texture, HELIX can help.

Candidates should stop using retinoids and harsh skin care chemicals before treatment. Additionally, candidates should be in good overall health and not be pregnant. Your HELIX specialist will review your medical history and determine whether you are a candidate for HELIX during your consultation.

How many HELIX sessions will I need to see results?

Results will vary depending on the severity of your concerns, your natural healing process, and the areas treated. Some patients see HELIX results after just one treatment, but it may be recommended that you undergo multiple sessions to see optimum results.

Since HELIX produces collagen, full results can take several weeks or months to become fully visible. Once optimum results are achieved, it is recommended to maintain treatments once per year.

How much are HELIX laser treatments in Santa Monica?

The cost of the HELIX laser varies, as treatments are customized to your needs. Price estimates are determined based on the target area and the extent of the procedure.

You will receive an accurate cost estimate at your consultation.

Are there any side effects of HELIX laser resurfacing?

All non-invasive aesthetic treatments come with the risk of side effects. While rare, HELIX may cause:

  • Burning to the area
  • Excessive redness
  • Itching
  • Pain
